Your Weight Gain Could Be Due to Narcissistic Abuse

You’ve been steadily gaining weight over the past few months or even years, but did you realize that narcissistic abuse could be the culprit? When you are in a narcissistic or toxic relationship with a partner, or even a family member, friend, or coworker, you are under a lot of stress.
The stress from being in a relationship with a narcissistic person comes from never knowing from one day to the next what will be expected of you. Are they going to be in a good mood today? Will they be angry about you not returning their texts quickly enough? Will they be mad because you didn’t greet them properly? There are many reasons, on an ever-growing list, that this narcissistic person might berate you, or give you the cold shoulder.
Over time, as you get more and more stressed, and your cortisol levels remain high, your body holds onto inflammation, as a type of protection. You stay in fight, or flight mode, which causes your brain to send out a signal that you are in danger, and it must preserve resources. Less energy goes to the digestion process, which includes metabolism.
